Richard S. Sowa has spent over 30 years in financial services in a variety of capacities. Rich got the financial services bug when he was a bank examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department, Comptroller of the Currency and became involved in various bank investment and mortgage departments.

When he left the Treasury Department seven years later, he formed his own tax accounting and investment business. It was during this time that he acquired his Series 7 and 63 securities licenses (necessary to practice as a registered representative commonly known as a stockbroker). Rich also acquired the Certified Financial Planner (TM) and the Certified Mutual Fund and Annuity Specialist designations. Rich has held life, health, disability and property & casualty insurance licenses.

After eight years in business, Rich decided that he wanted to go into corporate America and make his mark. He has worked as a registered rep for several well known national and regional brokerage firms and insurance companies.  He has written over 200 financial articles and presented many financial seminars, workshops, and keynote addresses throughout his many years in the financial services industry.

Having accomplished what he wanted in corporate America, Rich has now moved to the educational side of the financial services industry. He does not sell financial products nor advise individual clients any longer. Rich’s intent, through the ongoing promotion of financial literacy, is to educate those individuals that are struggling to understand the very complex and confusing world of brokerage, insurance, banking, mortgages, taxes and related areas.

In 2006, Rich founded, Sowa Financial Media,LLC a writing, consulting, and speaking business directed at businesses seeking help with their:

  •  marketing materials, whitepapers, case studies etc.
  •  start up businesses
  •  business internal presentations
